What: Guidelines or questions to share with students before class to give them a framework for reading.

How: You can post short questions on Moodle that will guide students to read with a specific perspective or lens that relates to what you are discussing in class. In some cases,  you can often share your intention of including that piece of reading and that will provide some context to students as they are preparing for class. You can also be specific if you want students to annotate or take notes on particular readings, or parts of readings.

Why: Students can easily begin to skip readings or quickly skim them if they do not think they are going to be discussing the readings in class. By providing context for what the discussion might look like, reading can be more intentional and productive which will help students feel more productive, and will help the class flow more easily.
