What: During class, in addition to having an agenda at the beginning, you might also want to have clear transitions from one topic or discussion to the next so students are aware of which part of the agenda you are on at any time during the class.

How: You can do this by using transition phrases such as "Now that we have had a chance to talk about _______ we can segue into thinking about ______." or "The next item on our agenda today is to ______." Often referring back to the agenda and context you provided at the beginning of class can be a helpful way to signal clear transitions.

Why: Without clear transitions students might find it harder to engage in the class because they might be thinking about a previous topic or discussion theme.
