What: Allow students time to think and reflect during the class.

How: After asking a question, ask students to take a couple minutes to think about their answers and maybe even write them down. Then you can transition into either small group activities, or a larger group discussion.

Why: This is helpful for students who might need a little longer to think, or are overwhelmed by people constantly speaking. This can also be helpful for you as the professor to gather your thoughts and plan on what you are doing next.
